A couple of captures from last winter . . . If we ever get a break from the grey and gloomy (and now snowy) skies, will head out to some shorty hangouts to see if they've made it back yet. Probably having a field day with the voles . . .

The goldfinches now have their winter colors, but it wasn't that long ago they were brilliant yellow, just beautiful. Here's a goldfinch lifting off from a sunflower. And a little while before he took off, a big ol' bumblebee winged its way up to look the goldfinch in the eye before heading off to the less crowded flower field.

God Bless our veterans, all those who serve and have served our country. My grandfather served in World War I and was in France on November 11th, 1918 at 11:00 am when the Armistice went into force marking the end of the Great War . . .

The sunset this past Sunday was epic, just beautiful. The same clouds that gave us the wonderful colors also hazily obscured the crescent moon and venus during the dusky hour, but it was still a beautiful sight. While capturing a few frames, some Canada Geese performed a honking flyover, and they were captured in motion.

"Here I come to save the day!" says this male Ruby-throated Hummingbird as he darts off to chase away an intruder. Check out shadows of his little feet on his tail feathers . . . so cute.

More barn swallows in flight, adults and juveniles.

"'Cause these are the good old days . . . Anticipation" Next week it's supposed to drop into the forties, twenties at night, maybe this will entice the shorties.

"Anticipation . . . Is keeping me waiting" Really looking forward to the Short-eared Owls, shouldn't be too much longer . . .

"Hey, um, I'm molting over here, so no posting please, I mean, look at this head!" "But you have the most beautiful blue feathers, and you're still the king of the squawkers!" "Aw, alright then, if you must."
